It's All About Jesus

 Romans 4:25 (NKJV)
22  And therefore "it was accounted to him for righteousness."
23  Now it was not written for his sake alone that it was imputed to him,
24  but also for us. It shall be imputed to us who believe in Him who raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead,

25  who was delivered up because of our offenses, and was raised because of our justification.

This is why "it was credited to him as righteousness." The words "it was credited to him" were written not for him alone, but also for us, to whom God will credit righteousness--for us who believe in him who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead. He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification.

Thoughts for Today:

Abraham's faith in the resurrection -- a belief that life could be obtained from death -- is what God accepted from Abraham rather than his own righteousness (which he didn't have). God declared Abraham righteous because he believed God's promise to raise a son from Sarah's womb -- despite the fact that at 100 years old she was barren. This preview of God's plan for redemption and salvation through Jesus Christ, was evidenced not only in the conception and birth of Abraham's son Isaac, but also when the Lord spared Isaac's life on Mount Moriah (instead providing himself a sacrifice -- see Genesis 22:8). I believe Jesus spoke about this in John 8:56 when He said: "Your father Abraham rejoiced at the thought of seeing my day; he saw it and was glad."

In our passage today, Paul explains: "The words 'it was credited to him' were written not for him [Abraham] alone, but also for us."

So what must we do to inherit God's promise to Abraham?

Paul answers: "Believe in him who raised Jesus from the dead."

Questions to Ponder:

Have you accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior ?

God justifies those who believe in the death and resurrection of Jesus.

If you haven't done so --

will you right now place your hope and trust in the Lord ?
